Metcon 6 Review – Six Minute Fat Loss?

metcon 6 reviewCan you lose weight in six minutes? No, but a book called Metcon 6 says you can lose fat with the six minute workouts described in their program.

According to the book’s author, Chandler Marchman, this exercise regimen was used by the elite special forces of the former Soviet Union.

He wasn’t having success with “traditional” gym workouts, so he and his trainer came up with a new program that apparently brought an old (and forgotten) program back to life.

The result is a program that doesn’t require lengthy gym sessions (or any gym at all!) and won’t require you to engage in boring and repetitive cardio workouts.

All of that sounded interesting, so I thought I’d take a closer look and see what Metcon 6 is all about.

Is Metcon 6 a scam, or will it help you with fat loss? Read on for the full Metcon 6 review.

Metcon 6 Overview

Like many weight loss and fitness products, Metcon 6 is sold as a set of downloadable ebooks in PDF format. You can download them immediately after purchase, so you won’t have to wait for them to arrive in the mail.

You can read PDF books on any computer device – smart phones, tablets, desktop computers, or laptops. You can even print them out if you’d rather put them in a binder and read them like a traditional book.

When you purchase, you’ll receive the following books:

  • Metcon 6 Training Manual (33 pages)
  • Quick Start Guide (9 pages)
  • Exercise Video Library (19 pages)
  • 30-Day Diet (36 pages)
  • Supplement Guide (13 pages)
  • Workout Logs (19 pages)

The Quick Start Guide is for those who want to just “jump in” without taking the time to read about the theory of what you’ll be doing and why. It’s best to read the training manual, but if you’re in a hurry, the Quick Start Guide will get you started.

six minute fat loss reviewThe Exercise Video Library is an odd book in that it’s a book that seems to have videos in it. You’ll see a couple of paragraphs for each video, describing the workout that you’ll find in the video and a list of exercises that the video will show you how to do.

You’ll also see a photo of what looks like a video player. But when you click on the player, you will be taken to the actual videos online! The videos vary in running time from about 1 minute to 6 minutes, and give a good explanation for what you need to do and more importantly, how you need to do it.

You’ll want to pay close attention to the videos, as there are eighty one different exercises described in them!

The 30-Day Diet book covers the four phases of the recommended diet regimen:

  • Anabolic Fast Phase (Days 1-2)
  • Flush Phase (Days 3-7)
  • Refeed Phase (Days 8-23)
  • Peak Phase (Days 24-30)

In each section, you can choose from a recommended list of foods and for each day, a sample meal plan is provided. For those who prefer to improvise, you’ve given a daily recommendation for calories and carbs, but many people, I suspect, will want to stick with the suggested meals.

There’s a list of foods to avoid, as you might well expect, and most of the usual culprits are on there. Then again, no one thinks they’re going to lose weight by sitting around drinking beer and eating ice cream, right?

You’ll like the meal plan if you’re a fan of protein, however, as there’s a lot of meat in there.

The Supplement Guide was a bit of a surprise, as many products include similar guides and they almost always try to get you to purchase the recommended supplements via links provided in the book.

That’s not the case here; the book recommends a few dietary supplements and offers an explanation for what they do and why, in the author’s opinion, you’ll benefit from using them. Other than that, there’s no sales pitch.

The Workout Logs are basically a set of worksheets that allow you to keep track of your progress.

As for the main Metcon 6 book, the author explains the methods behind the course, and the exact regimen that you’ll be using to burn this fat off in minimal time.

I’ll say this – the methods described in this book are different, and that’s because you won’t need to use a gym or have an entire gym’s worth of equipment to do the 81 exercises described in the book.

All of the exercises you’ll find in Metcon 6 use just one affordable piece of equipment – a kettlebell.

You may not own one, but they’re not terribly expensive. I had no idea that it was possible do so many different things with one simple piece of equipment.

metcon 6 scamThe author does point out that a lot of people don’t use a kettlebell because they’re hard to use if you’ve never used one before and don’t know what to do with it.

This book offers a good introduction to the device and offers some good rules and safety precautions that will allow you to maximize your use while minimizing your chances of getting hurt.

And you will get maximum use out of this thing. The exercises may be brief in duration – remember, you’re just working out 6 minutes at a time, but that doesn’t mean that you’re not getting a tough workout.

These exercises will work you hard, but it will happen in such a way that it’s all over very quickly.

You can use the exercises described in Metcon 6 along with a regular cardio program or as part of a workout that includes exercises of other types. This is great if you’re looking to get the maximum results quickly.

Or you can just use the exercises as described and you’ll likely see some results pretty quickly.

I found this book to be quite informative, fairly priced, and well written. Don’t have a kettlebell? The book even offers an alternative to that, though you’ll likely find the exercises easier to do if you have one.

Pros and Cons of Metcon 6

  • Affordable book
  • Well written
  • Not packed with upsells

  • You’ll need to buy some sort of weight if you don’t have one already
  • Videos are not downloadable
