It’s hard losing weight. There are many reasons for that, but among them are the fact that you will have to change both your routine and your eating habits, and people don’t like changing either one. Some diets are complicated, too, and people don’t want to spend their time counting calories, or counting anything, really.

What most people want is a simple, effective way of losing weight and that’s what Derek Wahler is promising with his Flat Belly Detox program. He says that his program consists of just three steps, and if you do them every day, you’ll see the weight drop off quickly.

OK, it’s just a little bit more complicated than that, but not much. Flat Belly Detox is actually the simplest weight loss program I’ve ever encountered, so if you’re looking for a relatively trouble-free way of losing weight, you might want to read on.

Flat Belly Detox Overview

Flat Belly Detox consists of two parts – two books, and a series of videos. The books are in PDF format, which can be read on any computer device, including tablets and smartphones. You can download them immediately after purchase, so you won’t have to wait for delivery.

When you purchase Flat Belly Detox you’ll receive the following:

The videos are available online at the Flat Belly Detox Website. You can either view them there in your Web browser or you can download them in mp4 format. They’re about 50 MB each, and as far as I know they are not available in a format that is optimized for mobile.

The Flat Belly Detox is a very simple program, and that’s part of why the main book is only 39 pages. I’ll have a hard time writing this review without giving away the entire program.

Flat Belly Detox is actually a 4 step program, so it’s kind of amusing that Derek refers to it as a 3 step program. In fact, he tells you to keep a diary and write down a 0,1,2, or 3 at the end of each day so you’ll keep track of how many of the four steps you’ve done each day.

The first step involves breakfast, which you will basically skip. Instead, you’ll substitute a very simple item that takes just a second to prepare that he calls his “Instant Energy Recipe”. Derek says that you’ll burn fat more easily if you’re fasting in the morning, so you’ll take that breakfast substitute and then you’ll go on to the step I’ll call step 1B.

For that, you’ll do one of the exercises that Derek recommends. There are ten to choose from, and each has a video so you can see Derek showing you how to do it. The videos are reasonably well shot and you’ll find that the exercises are also easy to do. They all involve using your own bodyweight for resistance, so you don’t need any special equipment to do them.

Step 2 involves lunch, and this one is also easy. To prepare your lunch, Derek gives you three groups of foods, each of which includes a number of choices. You pick one item from Group 1, one item from Group 2, and one item from Group 3. That is your lunch.

The first group is a list of proteins. The second is a list of fruits/vegetables. The third is a list of healthy fats.

Step 3 is dinner, and dinner is soup. Soup? Well, he calls it “soup,” but it’s more than that. “Stew” might be a better word for it, as the soup recipes that he calls for include a lot of meat, lots of healthy vegetables, and a fair amount of healthy fats.

The soups are pretty hearty, and you’ll likely find that they’re both tasty and filling. He includes a number of recipes for these soups, and here are a few of them:

French Lentil Soup
Italian Sausage Soup
Lemony Chicken Soup
Soup Mexicana

Several of the recipes are vegetarian, too, which will be great for those who don’t eat meat.

The bonus book, the Bedtime Flat Belly Detox program, gives you some extra steps you can do to help you lose weight faster. This includes a dessert-substitute shake recipe, and some additional exercise. There are also a few tips for things you should do to ensure that you get a better night’s sleep and to help you burn fat while you sleep.

The Flat Belly Detox program is intended to last for three weeks. After that, you can go back to normal living, or you can work portions of the diet into your regular routine.

Derek includes some additional recipes that he recommends that you incorporate into your “regular” diet once you’ve finished the three week Flat Belly Detox program. These include such things as:

Paleo Cereal
Fat-Burning Deviled Eggs
Pumpkin Protein Smoothie

That’s pretty much the entire program. Derek says that many programs are overly complicated and that’s why people often stop doing them. The Flat Belly Detox is simple, so you’ll likely find it easy to follow and therefore easy to stick with.

There are two upsells that are offered with the purchase of the Flat Belly Detox. One consists of an additional weight loss book, along with custom recipes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The other upsell consists of more workout videos that are a bit more complex and designed to help you lose more weight and to see results sooner.

I liked the fact that the basic Flat Belly Detox program is simple to do and easy to follow. If you follow the program exactly (that means writing down a “3” every night,) you’ll likely see good results.
