The book is well-written, and offers a good overview of the digestive process and how we develop Type 2 Diabetes and what must be done to over come it.

The main part of the program is a 10 day period where you are expected to get most, or ideally, all, of your nutrition from the “super drinks” recommended by the book.

There are two different super drinks, the Phase 2 Super Drinks and the Diabetes Freedom Super drinks.

There are seven recipes for the first group, and fifteen recipes for the second one.  The recipes for both types may include some ingredients that you are not likely to have on hand, though you should be able to acquire them all at a health food store or order them online.

It was nice to see that the book was not full of links that you could use to purchase these ingredients; the author apparently believes you’re capable of buying them on your own without him trying to earn a few extra dollars by selling them to you.

For the first ten days of the program, you’ll be consuming these drinks up to four times a day.  While the book doesn’t strictly require you to consume all of your calories via these drinks during this period, doing so is recommended.

If you can’t get by without a bit of solid food, you can eat foods from a recommended list, in the portions that are suggested.

After the ten day period of drinking mostly super drinks, you’ll move to an eight week period where you consume 1-2 of these drinks per day while eating other foods from the recommended list of proteins, carbohydrates, and fats.

There is also a fasting component in the Diabetes Freedom program, where you’ll be expected to eat your meals at certain times of the day while abstaining from eating at other times.

There’s a bit of information about exercise, but those who are averse to working out will find that the exercise portion of the program isn’t difficult, isn’t time consuming, and isn’t stressed particularly hard.

While I found the book to be well-written, I did find that the instructions for what you should do are sort of all over the place, and not concisely listed.

On the other hand, all of the information is there, and the basics of Diabetes Freedom do cover what most medical professionals recommend for those who suffer from Type 2 Diabetes.

If you suffer from Type 2 Diabetes and you’d like to do something to help yourself get healthier, this book will likely help.
