thinspiration diet reviewIt’s tough losing weight.  It’s even tougher to lose it and keep it off.  Charlotte Thomson, creator of the Thinspiration Diet, says she used to weigh more than 200 pounds, and then she lost the weight due to secrets that she learned from some fashion models with whom she worked.

She says that they told her how they lose weight and keep it off, and she compiled those secrets into her Thinspiration Diet program.  That sounds interesting, particularly if it works, so I thought I’d take a closer look at the program and see if it’s everything she says it is.  Is Thinspiration Diet a scam?

Thinspiration Diet Overview

Thinspiration Diet is sold as a downloadable ebook in PDF format.  You should be able to read PDF books on most any computer device, including your smartphone, if you like.  You can also download the book immediately after purchase, so you won’t have to wait for the mailman to deliver.

When you purchase Thinspiration Diet, you’ll receive the following:

  • Pro Thinspiration Diet main book
  • Thinspiration Diet Plan book
  • Thinspirational Striking Salads Recipes book
  • Thinspiration Weight Loss Oracle Software
  • Home Detox Guide book
  • Essential Book of Inspirational Song Titles

The Thinspiration Diet is also known as the Pro Thinspiration Diet.  It’s hard to keep track of products that aren’t sure of their name.

The Diet Plan book is fairly brief at only 7 pages.  It gives you a list of the number of meals to eat each day, when to eat them, and the recommended number of calories to consume at each of those meals.  You’ll also get a sample listing of the sorts of things you should eat at each of those meals to keep your calorie count in line with your goals.

thinspiration diet bonusesThe Salad Recipes book is 32 pages and does have recipes for 24 salads that look pretty tasty.  Each includes a photo, a list of ingredients, and calorie, protein and carb counts.

The Detox book and song titles book are the sorts of bonuses that get added to products to give the impression that you’re getting “more” for your money.  I’m not sure that a list of song titles is going to help anyone lose weight.

The main Thinspiration Diet book is 56 pages, and is divided into the following chapters:

  • How to Lose Weight
  • Losing Weight the Right Way
  • Anorexia
  • Losing Weight with the Right Pro Ana Tips
  • How to Maintain a Healthy Weight if You Are Already Anorexic
  • Diagnosing Anorexia
  • Anorexia Treatment
  • Living the Battle

You’ve likely noticed that the content of the book seems to devote a lot of space to anorexia (and, to a lesser extent, bulimia.)  This is a bit odd, as the sales page for Thinspiration Diet does not indicate that you’re buying a book about anorexia nervosa.  Yes, a lot of people suffer from that malady, and yes, it’s serious, but the sales page suggested that this was a more or less ordinary weight loss guide, and not a book about anorexia.

thinspiration diet scamStill, that’s what a lot of the content is about, and if you take away all of the parts that are not about anorexia but are instead about weight loss, you’ll find that you’re left with just the first two chapters.

Those chapters emphasize the sorts of things that I regularly see in diet books.  You need to eat balanced meals consisting of a certain amount of protein, a certain amount of carbs and a certain amount of fat.  You need to eliminate certain specific types of foods from your diet, and replace them with healthier alternatives.  You need to drink lots of water.

Thinspiration Diet also mentions that you should exercise regularly and that you should combine some high intensity training with some regular cardio workouts.  Finally, the Thinspiration Diet book suggests that you should eat smaller portions while eating meals more often.

Honestly, that’s about it.  The rest of the book is about anorexia, and I couldn’t help but wonder if the author started out with the intention of writing a book about anorexia and then decided to market it as a general weight loss book instead.  The advice in the book is OK, as far as it goes, but the advice for losing weight isn’t overly detailed.

Thinspiration Diet also has a few grammatical errors, including a couple of truly odd ones, like this:

Drink plenty of water and replace them with carbonated drinks.

That sentence just had me scratching my head.

If you’re the sort of person who needs specific instructions about what, exactly, to eat and when to eat it, and what exercises to do and when to do them, then you’re not likely to find Thinspiration Diet to be particularly useful.   On the other hand, if you do have an eating disorder, or if you’ve had one in the past, you may find the book to be helpful to you.

That said, I think most people will be better served with other weight loss books.

Pros and Cons of Thinspiration Diet

  • Not overly expensive
  • Salad bonus book has some nice recipies

  • Content focuses too much on anorexia
  • Overly general weight loss advice

Thinspiration Diet Summary

thinspiration diet - thumbs downIs Thinspiration Diet a scam?  No, I think it’s a well-intentioned book that goes astray with too much talk about eating disorders and not enough information about how to put together a balanced diet and exercise program that will help the average person who does not have an eating disorder lose weight.

There is some good advice in there, but it’s combined with a lot of information that is not going to be helpful to the average reader.  People who need specific instructions about what to eat and when are going to be left a bit confused, as the book just tells you to eat a certain number of meals of a certain number of calories each.  Most people aren’t accustomed to counting calories, and aren’t going to be interested in doing so.

I can’t quite recommend Thinspiration Diet.
