the youth method reviewIt’s tough losing weight.  It’s a lot of work.  You have to exercise a lot.  You have to count calories, or carbs, or something in order to make dramatic changes in your life.  Some people succeed with it, but others try some new fad diet for a while and then fail.

Erin Nielsen, who created a program called Toned in Ten that I previously reviewed, has created a weight loss detox system called The Youth Method.  This system, she says, will give you a flatter tummy, a younger look and more youthful skin, and it only takes two weeks to get started.  You also won’t have to count calories or carbs or keep track of your fat intake.

That sounds interesting, so I thought I’d take a closer look and see what The Youth Method is all about.  Is The Youth Method a scam?

The Youth Method Overview

The Youth Method is sold as a downloadable ebook in PDF format.  You can read PDF books on just about any computer device.  They’re portable, which is convenient, but they’re also downloadable, which means that you can download the book as soon as you’ve completed your purchase, regardless of the time of day.

When you purchase The Youth Method, you’ll receive the following books:

  • The Youth Method main book (136 pages)
  • 24 Hour Rapid Results (8 pages)
  • Transformation Guide (8 pages)

The Rapid Results book is sort of a “quick start guide” that will help you jump into the 14 day detox program by getting started  a day early.  Erin says this will produce better results.

The Transformation guide is a journal where you can keep track of what you’re doing every day for the two weeks of the program.  You’ll keep track of what you ate for each meal, what you snacked on, how much sleep you were able to get and other things that will be relevant as you go through The Youth Method program.

The main The Youth Method book is 136 pages and is divided into the following chapters:

  • CHAPTER 1 – Why Do We Crave Certain Foods?
  • CHAPTER 2 – My Healing Story
  • CHAPTER 3 – The Power Of Epigenetics
  • CHAPTER 4 – Remember The 4 P’s
  • CHAPTER 5 – Preparation
  • CHAPTER 6 – Daily Routine
  • CHAPTER 7 – The Meal Plans and Recipes
  • CHAPTER 8 – Bonus Snacking Recipes
  • CHAPTER 9 – After The Detox
  • CHAPTER 10- Athletes, Vegetarians, Vegans
  • CHAPTER 11- Anti Aging Intermittent Fasting

The first six chapters are there to give you an idea of what you’ll be doing and why.  Erin is a big believer in removing processed foods from our diets, and that would include many grains, most sugar, and most fats and oils.  That might sound like you’re losing a lot, but her plan does include plenty of protein, lots of fruits and vegetables and a fair amount of chocolate.  You’ll also be drinking a smoothie or two.

the youth method programThe Youth Method points out that the program is not one that you’ll be doing all the time, but rather one that you’ll be doing a couple of times a year, as necessary.  On the other hand, the dietary advice in The Youth Method is good; you should try to avoid soda and processed food all the time if you can.

The Youth Method is also not a low-fat or low-calorie program.  There’s plenty of food to be eaten, and you are not going to go hungry.  The key, says Erin, is to eat the right foods at the right time, avoid the foods that are harmful to you, and try to maintain other healthy habits, such as limiting alcohol intake, getting plenty of sleep, and engaging in regular exercise.

The bulk of The Youth Method program is the recipes themselves, and if you’re one of those people who likes to be taken by the hand and guided, step by step, through the weight loss program, then you’re going to love The Youth Method.

In this meal guide, Erin pretty much gives you a full 14 day menu, with recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.  You won’t have to decide what to eat; you can simply look at the book and follow the recipes.

The recipes in The Youth Method are good, too.  You definitely won’t go hungry.

Breakfasts are usually smoothies, which you can make in a blender in just a couple of minutes.  Recipes for those include a Coconut Almond Smoothie and a Mint Raspberry Smoothie.

Lunches are often salads, but they’re not dull and boring.  You’ll see things like Chicken and Super Green Detox Salad or Avocado Tuna Salad or Salmon Super food salad.

the youth method scamEvery meal is going to have a lot of protein and vegetables, as she likes to use what she calls the “4 P” program of  saying yes to protein and produce and no to processed and packaged foods.

Dinner includes recipes such as Fiesta Chicken with Guacamole, Rosemary and Balsamic Lamb with Kale Apple Salad, and Mustard and Garlic Pork Chops with Escarole.

There’s a chapter at the end of the book that offers suggestions for what you should do to maintain your weight after the detox and another chapter that covers the special needs of vegans and vegetarians, and another that covers Erin’s beliefs in the benefits of intermittent fasting.

All in all, The Youth Method is a well written book, and if you follow the nutritional advice inside, you’ll probably see good results.

Pros and Cons of The Youth Method

  • Great recipes that are easy to follow
  • Affordably priced

  • Not much attention paid to exercise

The Youth Method Summary

the youth method - thumbs upIs The Youth Method a scam?  Not at all.  This is a solid, well-written book by someone with a good track record of producing good products.  I wish there was more emphasis on exercise in the book, but it is mentioned.  The recipes, on the other hand, are well thought out and easy to prepare, and look to be quite tasty.  If you’re staying away from weight loss programs because you don’t want to go on a stripped-down diet of boring foods, then you’re going to love The Youth Method.

Of course, you will need to follow up the program by staying away from the wrong kinds of foods.  The results that you get from The Youth Method will be temporary unless you stick to it.

The Youth Method is a good book and is recommended.
