Marc MacDonald has written a book called Sleep Apnea Exercise that he says can help you minimize or even eliminate your problem with apnea with just 20 minutes a day of simple exercises. That sounds interesting, as CPAP equipment can cost hundreds of dollars and those dental appliances are often uncomfortable. Is Sleep Apnea Exercise a scam, or is it a worthwhile purchase?

Sleep Apnea Exercise Overview
Sleep Apnea Exercise is sold in two forms – the first is a downloadable, or “digital” format that consists of ebooks in PDF format and exercise videos that can be viewed online. The second is a “physical” format that consists of an actual printed book, with an accompanying DVD that includes the exercise videos.
The advantage of the digital version of Sleep Apnea Exercise is that you can have access to it immediately after purchase, though some buyers may prefer a physical book, which you could keep on your nightstand for a reference. Both versions have their merits; it’s up to the buyer to decide which format would work better for them.
When you purchase Sleep Apnea Exercise, you’ll receive the following:
- Sleep Apnea Exercise main book (86 pages)
- Sleep Apnea Exercise checklist (2 pages)
- Cure Your Sleep Apnea with Herbs book (23 pages)
- Overcome Daytime Fatigue book (57 pages)
- Weight Loss for Sleep Apnea book (213 pages)
- 15 exercise videos
The Herbs book is a bit of a throwaway, but the 57 page Overcome Daytime Fatigue book gives you some good insights as to why you may be tired during the day and what you can do to prevent that.
The main Sleep Apnea Exercise book gives a good overview of the problem of sleep apnea and its causes. It has to do with certain muscles in the mouth and neck that relax too much during sleep. This causes airway blockage, and can lead to some serious health problems. Many people suffer from this, and apnea is often accompanied by snoring, though snoring and apnea can exist without one another.
The author of Sleep Apnea Exercise goes through the common causes of apnea, such as being overweight, being a smoker, and having the misfortune of simply having less-than-ideal neck and mouth structure. He describes the common solutions for apnea, such as CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) devices and dental appliances that try to change the shape of your mouth while you sleep. Many people have had success with these solutions, but they don’t work for everyone and they can be quite expensive.
The purpose of the Sleep Apnea Exercise program is to help you overcome your apnea, by strengthening the muscles in your mouth and throat using the 15 or so exercises provided. The book explains what the exercises are for each of the four main areas – tongue, soft palate, throat/neck, and jaw. These exercises are quite easy to do and literally take seconds to perform. The author recommends that you do 6-10 of these exercises twice a day – once in the morning and again before bed.
The purpose of the Sleep Apnea Exercise program is to strengthen your muscles, which will prevent your airway from collapsing during sleep. Tests have shown that these exercises can actually help a good number of people, though they may not work for everyone. On the other hand, they do not require any special equipment, they only take a few minutes a day to perform, and they may very well help you.
If you’re also overweight, I cannot recommend the bonus book Weight Loss for Sleep Apnea enough. This is one of the few bonus books that justifies the price.
All in all, Sleep Apnea Exercise is an excellent book and one of the best that I’ve reviewed. If you try these exercises, you’re very likely to see an improvement in your sleep habits, and you’ll also likely find yourself getting better rest.
