lean belly detox reviewIt’s hard to lose weight, and most people who try either fail, or they succeed only temporarily.  That’s because most diets require major lifestyle changes that people don’t want to stick to.  You’re either going to have to exercise a lot, eliminate foods you like, or eat a diet that consists only of foods you dislike.

Matt Stirling, the author of Lean Belly Detox, says that’s not the case.  He says that his program will allow you to lose 1.2 pounds per day by taking advantage of what he calls a “9 second cinnamon cider trick” that will allow you to lose that weight without hours of exhaustive exercise and without starving yourself.

That sounded interesting, so I thought I’d take a look at Lean Belly Detox and see if it’s any good.  Is Lean Belly Detox a scam, or is it the real deal?

Lean Belly Detox Overview

Lean Belly Detox is a program that consists of videos as well as books.  The books are in PDF format, which can be read on any computer device, including smartphones and tablets.  The videos can either be viewed online, or you can download them and watch them on your computer or phone.

In the Lean Belly Detox program, Matt Stirling explains how the body processes the food that you eat, and how insulin can affect the way your body handles both the food you eat and your ability to burn fat.  He suggests that what you eat, and when you eat it, are equally important when it comes to trying to lose weight.

lean belly detox weight lossThe Lean Belly Detox program consists of two parts – a 7 day prep program, followed by the 14 day main program.  The 14 day program simply adds some steps to the 7 day program.

In Stage 1, you’ll begin each day by drinking a glass of the special “tonic” that Matt recommends.  Then you’ll engage in brief 5 minute exercises.  Finally, you’ll eat the recommended foods and avoid the foods that Matt says can hinder your body’s ability to burn fat.

In Stage 2, you’ll do everything that you did in Stage 1, but you’ll also add two different types of food to your diet, and you’ll change the timing of when you eat one of them.

The foods that you avoid are all of the usual culprits that one should, with common sense, know to avoid already – processed foods, sugars, certain fats, and certain types of carbs.

Lean Belly Detox gives you a specific list of foods to avoid, along with a list of foods that you are more or less free to consume as you wish.

The book makes it easy by including a recommended shopping list at the end of the book that shows you what you’ll need to buy.

The exercises that you’ll be doing only take about five minutes to do, and they’re demonstrated in the videos.   You can view them online in your Web browser, or you can download them to your computer in mp4 format.  They’re reasonably well-shot videos, with Matt explaining what to do while someone else demonstrates the exercises.

One nice thing about the exercises is that they do not require special equipment, so you won’t need to have access to a gym in order to do them.

A bonus section of the book includes some recipes that Matt recommends as part of the diet plan.  These recipes include such things as:

  • Sizzlin’ Sesame Chicken
  • Sauteed Lemon Sole
  • Crock Pot Bison Chile Verde

The recipes are easy to follow, do not require much in the way of unusual ingredients, and look to be tasty.  Each one has a color photo, as well, to give you an idea as to what they’ll look like once you prepare them.

If there are some things I didn’t like about Lean Belly Detox, it’s that certain parts of the program appeared to be contradictory.  In one section, he tells you never to do eat at a particular time of day, and in a later section, he tells you that it’s important to eat at that particular time of day.

lean belly detox scamThe book was also a bit haphazard in providing meal guidelines.  You’d have a list of foods that are OK to eat, and a list of foods that you should avoid, but aside from the recommended “tonic,” there isn’t a lot in the program about what you should eat and when.

If you’re looking for a weight loss program that includes a meal plan, Lean Belly Detox wouldn’t be the ideal choice.

On the other hand, the program may be effective for people who are good at reading between the lines.  If you do what he suggests and avoid the foods that Lean Belly Detox says to avoid, you may find the program to be an effective one.
