Nate Miyaki has a different idea with his Half Day Diet program. With this program, you “trick” your body into thinking it’s on a low-carb diet when it really isn’t, and you’re effectively dieting only half the day while still getting to enjoy carbs. It’s a bit complex, but it sounded interesting. After all, nobody wants to starve themselves, even if it does mean dropping a few unwanted pounds. Is Half Day Diet a scam?

Half Day Diet Overview
Half Day Diet is sold as a downloadable ebook in PDF format. That means that you can buy it and download it at any time of day and that you can read it on just about any device, including smartphones and tablets.
When you purchase Half Day Diet, you’ll also receive the following bonus books:
- The Half Day Diet Quick Start Guide
- Restaurant and Fast Food Survival Guide
- Happy Hour Handbook
- Half Day Diet for Vegetarians
- The Holiday Fat Loss Manual
- 30 days access to the Flat Belly Platinum Club membership program
There are also a couple of upsells offered when you purchase Half Day Diet. You’ll receive a complimentary 30 day membership to Nate’s Flat Belly Platinum club, and after that, you’ll be asked to pay $79 for eight months for it if you want to continue. There’s also an upsell for some “done for you” meal plans that will take the guesswork out of preparing your meals while you’re on the Half Day Diet plan.
The bonus books are interesting. The Restaurant and Fast Food Survival Guide is a 29 page book that offers some great suggestions for how to stick to your diet while eating out. The Happy Hour Handbook tells you how to engage in occasional social drinking without losing your hard-earned weight loss gains.
The most useful of the bonuses is the Half Day Diet Quick Start guide, which distills the main book down to its essence -28 pages of no-frills instructions for how you’re going to lose weight with this plan.
And how are you going to lose weight with the Half Day Diet?
The main Half Day Diet book is a 204 page guide that explains Nate’s theories for how the body burns fat and how the body processes food. Contrary to what many diets preach, Nate believes that you’re better off consuming most of your calories and most of your carbs at night (though not right before bedtime.)
Meals early in the day consist of small amounts of protein and fruit or vegetables, while dinner can be more elaborate. Unlike many diets I’ve reviewed recently, the Half Day Diet program does require you to keep track of calories and carbs, and it’s based on a formula that you can calculate based on your own personal measurements using a calculator that’s provided on the Half Day Diet Website. It’s not that complex, and once you learn the basics, it’s easy to stick with it.
If there’s a downside to the Half Day Diet, it’s that Nate does not provide recipes or even specific meal suggestions. It’s mostly about telling you how much protein to eat or how many carbs you can include in your meal. Nate does have another book (sold separately) that provides what he calls “done for you” meal plans.
Once nice thing about the Half Day Diet is that it’s broken down into separate plans for people who are relatively inactive, people with average activity, and people who work out a lot. That way, you can choose the plan and diet that works best for you. There’s a lot of flexibility in the plan, so you can often squeeze some of your favorite foods in while you’re on the diet. There’s also an occasional cheat day, and those are always fun.
