Before I go any further, let me make this clear:  Depression can be a serious illness that is potentially life-threatening.  Before trying anything in the is book, be sure to consult with a medical professional.

Destroy Depression is sold as a series of ebooks in PDF format.  PDF books can be read on any computer device, and you can download the books immediately after purchase, which is probably the biggest benefit of using PDF, rather than a printed book.

destroy depression bonusesA good portion of Destroy Depression will cover some basics, about diet and getting enough sleep, and these things are a good foundation of healthy living.  If you’re tired or poorly nourished, you’re not going to be healthy, so getting those parts of your life in order is a good place to start.

For the main part of the Destroy Depression book, the author suggests that a big part of depression is that we spend too much time dwelling on negative thoughts and that we allow these thoughts to overwhelm us, leaving us unable to enjoy life and be happy.

That’s an oversimplification, of course, but the book covers what James Gordon calls “Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,” which is a method that the author says you can use to replace your negative thoughts with positive ones.

By doing this, your positive thoughts will “crowd out” the negative ones and leave you in a happier state.

As I said, this is an oversimplification, and that’s made clear when you realize that one of the bonus books is actually dedicated to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and that particular book, at 70 pages, is actually longer than the main Destroy Depression book!

The CBT book is where you’ll find the nuts and bolts of the Destroy Depression program, where Gordon will take you, step by step, though the process of identifying those problems that are plaguing you and causing your depression, and finding ways to overcome them.

The book is well written and the instructions are easy to follow.

The Goal-Setting Workshop book is structured much like the CBT book.  In order to get your life in order, you need to establish goals and you need to work on achieving them.

As with the CBT book, the Goal-Setting Workshop book is part explanation, and part “hands on” work.  You’ll learn about the importance of setting goals for your life, how to determine what worthwhile goals are, and how to document your progress as you work towards achieving those goals.

Finally, the Depression-Free Mediterranean Diet book offers the author’s suggestions for a healthy diet that will help relieve your depression symptoms.

This diet offers some good suggestions for how anyone should eat, with a minimal amount of junk food and with lots of vegetables, fruits and nuts.  The Mediterranean diet has long been a popular diet among people interested in weight loss, and it’s a good program.

The Depression-Free Mediterranean Diet book, as with the others in the series, is well-written and easy to follow.  If you go with the author’s recommendations, you’ll likely find yourself feeling better and you might lose some weight, too.

All in all, Destroy Depression is a well-written series of books that can offer useful information to anyone who might be suffering from depression.

It should not be used as a substitute for discussing your depressing with a medical professional.

But if you’ve done that, and your doctor is OK with it, then Destroy Depression may be able to help you.
