body weight pilates reviewLots of people are overweight and out of shape.  That’s no surprise, but one of the reasons is that exercising is hard.  Not only is it hard, but you usually have to either own special equipment or have a membership at a gym.  Then there’s the impact issue.  Some of us just can’t take the strain of high-impact exercises.

That’s where Sylvia Favela comes in with her Body Weight Pilates program.  She says that her program offers a workout routine that’s low impact, requires no equipment and doesn’t even take a lot of time.  In fact, she says that you can get a tight, fit body in just 21 days with her program.  That sounds promising, but is there really anything to it?  Is Body Weight Pilates a scam?

Body Weight Pilates Overview

Like most fitness products that I’ve reviewed, Body Weight Pilates is a hybrid product that consists of books and videos.  The books are in PDF format, which means that you can download them immediately after your purchase without having to wait for delivery though the mail.  You can read PDF books on any computer device and most smartphones.

The videos can be viewed online, or you can download them, depending on your preference.

When you purchase Body Weight Pilates, you’ll receive the following books:

  • Body Weight Pilates Quick Start Guide
  • Body Weight Pilates Core book
  • Body Weight Pilates Upper book
  • Body Weight Pilates Lower book
  • Workout calendars
  • Printable worksheets

body weight pilates packageThe Quick Start Guide is a 5 page PDF that gives you a quick overview of the program, along with a checklist to make sure you’re ready.  When it’s time for the actual workouts, you’ll want to use one of the three guides, depending on which part of your body you want to workout.

The Body Weight Pilates books are pretty much no-frills; you’re not going to have to spend any time reading about theory.  This is simply a workout program, but it’s a good one, and it has the following benefits:

  • No special equipment needed – just workout wherever you have space
  • Short, but intense workouts last about 10-15 minutes each
  • Work out the parts of your body that need it

The Core book is the main program, and this 38 page book offers exercises that are intended for your abdominal area.  There are 31 exercises in all, and each one is described and accompanied by full color photos to show you how the exercises are done.  At the end of the book are three “done for you” workout plans that list specific groups of exercises to perform as part of the same workout.  You’ll get a list of exercises and the number of reps or the amount of time that you need to spend doing each one.

The Lower book is similar to the core book; it is an 18 page book that offers Pilates exercises that are specifically designed to work out your lower body.  There are 11 exercises in all, and as in the Body Weight Pilates Core book, each of these exercises is described and accompanied by full color photos to show you how they’re done.  As with the Core book, there are three “done for you” workout programs at the end of the book, each with specific lists of exercises and the number of reps or amount of time that you need to do them.

The 17 page Upper book is like the Lower book, with 11 exercises, descriptions and photos, and three “done for you” workout programs.

body weight pilates scamThe Body Weight Pilates videos are available to be viewed online, or you can download them if you prefer to watch them somewhere else.  There are six videos for the Core book; three for beginners and three for advanced students.  The Lower workout has six videos; again, three for beginners and three for advanced students.  The Upper workout has four videos; two for beginners and two for advanced workouts.

Each of the videos is downloadable in standard definition, high definition and mobile formats, so you can watch them on just about any computer device, including your smartphone.

The videos typically run four to six minutes each, with Sylvia and a friend demonstrating how to perform the various exercises.  The videos are professionally shot and the video quality is good.  The sound quality is only so-so, as the videos were recorded in a large room with a fair amount of reverberation.  You can understand what Sylvia is saying, though the audio could have been better.  The demonstrations are first-rate, so if you’re a visual learner, you’ll get a lot out of the videos.

All in all, Body Weight Pilates offers a good low-impact workout that’s easy to do, doesn’t take a whole lot of time to do, and which doesn’t require a gym or special equipment.  If you’re looking for a good workout plan that can quickly get you tight and fit, Body Weight Pilates is a good place to start.

body weight pilates- thumbs upIs Body Weight Pilates a scam?  No, actually, it’s a good, solid workout program that’s ideal for anyone who wants to lose a bit of weight and get fit without having to join a gym or spend a bunch of money on equipment.  The instructions for the exercises are easy to follow and the photos are a big help.  The videos are well shot, too, and the workout programs don’t take a long time to do.  If you’ve been putting off getting some exercise because it’s too expensive, too much trouble, or too time consuming, I’d say that Body Weight Pilates is a good option for you.
